The Association of Brethren Caregivers is grateful to the donors of the following endowments. Contributions to support ABC can be made to any of these funds.

Created in September 2003, the Stephen O. Mason fund was established by the Association of Brethren Caregivers' Board to honor Steve Mason as out-going executive director for the organization. Mason resigned as executive director in June 2003 and will leave the position at the end of the year. The interest from this fund, which was established with gifts from ABC Board members, will be used to support the ongoing mission of the Association of Brethren Caregivers through direct support of its management team.

This endowed fund was established in 1982 with the Bethany Hospital Fund and successor organizations in response to the creation of the paid staff position of a Health and Welfare Consultant by the 1978 Annual Conference. The primary purpose of the fund was to expand the consultant's services to the Homes and Hospitals Association beyond the specified one-third time designated by Annual Conference. In recognition that the consultant position would change over time, a secondary use for the fund was established so that it would further support the health and welfare services related to Brethren homes and hospitals.

This endowed fund was established in 1982 as a Brethren Health and Welfare Association fund for the purpose of providing excellence in BHWA Annual Conference programming. If it becomes impossible to use the funds in this way, it can be used to undergird the programs of BHWA or its successor organization in a manner consistent with the purposes of this original gift.

The Health Education and Research Fund was established in 1958 to receive gifts raised through a fund drive authorized by the 1949 Annual Conference to reopen the Bethany Hospital School of Nursing. In 1959, Annual Conference authorized that the resources be placed in a fund with the interest to be used primarily to grant loans and scholarships for nursing students in the school of their choice. A secondary priority for any unused earned income is to further the purposes and programs of ABC.

This endowed fund was established in 1997 to support the Administrator-in-Training program sponsored by the Fellowship of Brethren Homes, a ministry of ABC. Its primary purpose is to fund the support and training of people preparing for administrative positions in Church of the Brethren sponsored retirement communities that are members of ABC. Its secondary purpose is to provide continuing education opportunities for Church of the Brethren Home administrators.

Originally established by the Brethren Health and Welfare Association as the BHWA Life Endowment Fund, this fund is to support ABC programming and administration costs. Raymond and Kathryn Peters gave the first gift specified as a life membership (John and Leona Eller were recognized as the first life members because of an earlier endowment gift).

This endowment was established in the 1980s primarily to provide denominational programming to break down the barriers, expel the myths, prevent and respond to human suffering and alienation caused by the use and abuse of chemicals and the disease of chemical dependency and alcoholism. A secondary purpose of the fund is to undergird the programming of ABC in a manner that is consistent with the purposes of this fund.

Mark and Katherine Melhorn Endowment Fund

This endowed fund was established to provide support for the caring ministries or special projects.

Established in the 1980s, this endowed fund is primarily intended to undergird the denominational programming to and with persons with disabilities. A secondary purpose of the fund is to undergird the programming of ABC in a manner that is consistent with the purposes of this fund.
