Join us for Young Adult Camp at Camp Brethren Heights !

A callaboration of between Camp Brethren Heights and On Earth Peace.

What is peace camp? – Peace camp is for young adults aged 18 and over, who feel a call to live a life of peace and nonviolence. Sadly, we live in a world where most of the images in the media portray violence as glamorous, funny, and cool. Even many churches today glorify violence and military might. It is our goal to provide you with the support, the tools, and the spiritual food that you need to strengthen your commitment to non-violence.

Friday and Saturday – Our weekend program focuses on nonviolence in our day to day lives. We will explore the Biblical call to peace, and discuss how to live as examples and witnesses to that calling.

Monday and Tuesday – Our program continues with a two-day workshop on non-violent activism. Learn how to plan an action campaign, run your own phone bank or door-to-door canvass, even how to start your own non-profit! We will tailor much of our program to the needs and calls that you see in your own communities.

On Earth Peace will co-sponsor this event, providing leadership and administrative support.

Brethren Heights is a rustic camp located on Lake Jehnsen in west central Michigan. It was established in 1949 by the Michigan District of the Church of the Brethren as a natural setting for Christian education for children. Since then the camp has touched the hearts of many. Today the camp still focuses on living peacefully, simply, together.

Registration and fees due August 1, 2008, to Camp Brethren Heights. The cost of the camp is $150 for full camp or $100 for weekend-only option. The price includes housing and meals.

Financial assistance is available in the form of full and partial scholarships.

I’d like to register for the Young Adult Peace Camp.
