These pictures come from Disaster Child Care centers in Pensacola and Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where volunteer child care givers cared for evacuee children from Hurricane Katrina. Disaster Child Care is a program of the Church of the Brethren, which sends volunteer child care teams at the invitation of FEMA and the Red Cross to care for children in shelters and others relief centers. Often the children make art to express their feelings about the traumatic disaster and to communicate what they had lived through and survived.

Some of the art made by children evacuated from Hurricane Katrina, who were served by Disaster Child Care in Fort Walton Beach, Florida.
